OCTOBER 20248MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY INSIGHTSTHE NEW IT: A STRATEGIC ALLY TO MANUFACTURING COMPANIESIN MY OPINIONBy Francisco GutiƩrrez, IT Solutions and Data Analytics Manager, SISAMEX - SISTEMAS AUTOMOTRICES DE MEXICO S.A. DE C.V.During the past years IT have been become a strategic partner for every manufacturing company and has led an intention to adopt new technologies and competitive advantages in the market. Currently, competitors are really aggressive in their implementations, automations, infrastructure, IOT technologies and machine learning solutions.New technologies can be from a simple computer with storage and connections to printers, an access point to connect a hardware interface, RFID technology, cybersecurity strategies; until a big data lake with a lot databases and PLC interconnected from machines, and interacting in real time with an big ERP (Oracle, Microsoft, SAP), learning how to autocorrect or predict when a material can be zero, or a machine disruption will be occur, comes along. It's not easy to be a negotiator with CEO'S and CFO'S; as a CIO you MUST be a part of strategic meetings, be active, promote and foster ideas to implement automations, machine learning solutions, high availability resources, dynamic ERP's, etcetera. But, it's the only and specific way that you can have the opportunity to receive funds to implement your ideas.Francisco GutiƩrrez
