Jamak stands out as a leading silicone manufacturing company, backed by an impressive 50-year track record and more than 100 patents in silicone technology. Its expertise spans the entire spectrum of silicone, from compound development to manufacturing processes. Whether engaged in new product development or product replacement, Jamak excels in providing exceptional value to clients.

A key aspect of its customer-centric approach is active listening. Jamak takes the time to truly understand customer specifications and requirements, enabling it to deliver personalized recommendations that align with the product’s end goals in terms of appearance standards, functionality needs, and cost objectives.

“We have recently expanded our value chain to include packaging and additional manufacturing steps. This strategic expansion is a significant step for us toward becoming a comprehensive one-stop shop, and offering the convenience and efficiency of a holistic solution provider,” says Dan Thompson, president of Jamak.

Rightly so, its expertise goes beyond the creation of standalone silicone parts. Jamak specializes in the intricate process of adhering silicone to other materials. Silicone, being inherently slippery, presents a unique challenge when it comes to bonding it with other materials. However, Jamak has developed proprietary knowledge and techniques to overcome this. It has mastered the science of crafting silicone parts that can securely adhere to a wide range of materials, including tape, exotic substances used in advanced aircraft like the Lockheed Martin F-35, and various steel carriers. This capability lets Jamak add significant value to its client’s projects.

Leveraging a state-of-the-art facility, cutting-edge laboratory equipment, and a team of skilled chemists and engineers, Jamak always strives to unlock new possibilities for silicone.

It achieves this by incorporating reinforcing materials and unique additives into silicone formulations. These additions allow the expansion of silicone properties and capabilities beyond its traditional applications. For instance, the team has successfully extended the temperature range of silicone from its normal range of zero to 350°F to handle temperatures. This continuous pursuit of pushing the boundaries of silicone’s capabilities drives Jamak to explore innovative ways and enhance its silicone product’s performance in the market.

In one instance, Jamak was brought in at the last minute to help a client find the solution for a new regulatory requirement that aimed at preventing small children from accessing potentially hazardous areas.

Jamak devised a solution that used a metal carrier to which silicone was added. It not only provided functionality but a visually pleasing appearance as well. The most challenging part of this solution was ensuring a secure bond between the silicone and metal without the risk of peeling under pressure. Jamak conducted rigorous testing that exceeded the client’s expectations. This case is a testament to the novel application of silicone, as it involved marrying silicone to a different material in a manner previously unexplored in the industry.

“One of the key reasons we can achieve this is the in-house compounding of our products, which gives us complete control over formulations and the unique mixing process. This allows us to create tailored solutions for very niche needs. Whether achieving the desired physical properties or creating custom colors ranging from black to hot pink, we can formulate a solution that precisely meets client requirements,” says Scott Fowler, VP of Operations, Jamak.

The firm is also a proud domestic producer working with clients who have realized that going for low-cost offshore manufacturing may not always be the best long-term strategy. While the material costs of silicone may be comparatively higher than organic rubber, its durability and reliability are unmatched, especially in heavy industries.

A crucial aspect helping Jamak gain traction in the market is the sustainability of silicone. It is highly environmentally friendly; it is not petroleum based and does not break down into toxic chemicals or pollutants. Silicone can be re-polymerized for reuse, and exhibits exceptional durability, outlasting organic rubbers in typical environments. It also boasts excellent properties such as UV radiation resistance, temperature stability, and moisture repellency. These sustainability features are contributing to the growing recognition of silicone as a favorable choice in the market, and conveniently placing Jamak as a leading enabler of sophisticated silicone products.
